Julian Arriens

Julian Arriens video company b/w

With a highly refined sense of story, Julian oversees every stage of our video production process.

He brings 20 years of TV (BBC, ITV, Channel 4, National Geographic, Discovery) and advertising (JWT, The Lowe Group) editing credentials, a BSc in Marine Biology, and 3 years’ electronics industry experience to the corporate sphere.

“I’d always concentrated on science at school and university, and graduated to work for 3 years in a large US lighting electronics manufacturer. In the year 2000 I switched paths. New millennium new start.

I eventually managed to land a job in the video department of a large advertising agency in London. I loved the marriage of technology and creative possibilities, and went on to learn a huge amount from highly talented individuals, all around the world… but I always wondered how I could take it beyond those walls.

Then the internet slowly shifted, and video streaming hit a threshold around 2010 when it revolutionised the possibilities of video within the corporate landscape.

So I took my skills as a TV documentary editor, and began working with businesses in the local community, where I by now wanted to play a part. I trained in lighting and camerawork, and in 2012 formed SuperReel to produce the best quality, most professional online video content I could, working with the best talent I could find, to blow what the 20th Century expected of corporate video out of the water.

And we’ve always built on that theme. I want our interviews to look as good as they possibly can, but strive to improve them. I want an environment that gets the best out of our staff, and out of our interviewees in each film, as each story hinges on them. Critically, we’re constantly refining and developing our shooting techniques… to offer a video product that not everyone out there can.”
